Shattered Dreams

In "I'm not Wonder Woman but God Made Me Wonderful", Sheila Walsh writes about Joseph and his shattered dreams.
Shattered, that is, until they finally fell into place all in God's wonderful timing.
God's the master weaver. He makes no mistakes.

Joseph was given some very lofty dreams.
Imagine how he must have felt, his heart swelling at what God has given him.
Then, his brothers sold him into slavery.
Just when he was picking himself up in Potiphar's house, he was thrown into prison under false accusations.

We all know how the story ends*, but as I read Sheila Walsh, it stands out to me in a way it never did before.

We all have dreams, and they all probably were shattered at one point or another (if yours hasn't been, expect it to be some time in the future). Joseph's story convinces me that what God has decreed He will bring to pass, regardless of what it appears to look like at the start.
Sometimes, you don't see the silver lining right up to the split second before the happy ending. But if you have faith in a Sovereign God, believe in the occurrence of deliverance.

And to quote Cinderella, "No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wished will come true."

Just some thoughts on the verse.
Sometimes we get it the other way round.
Unknowingly we read the verse and then think, "If I obey Jesus' command, it will prove that I love him."
Which is only a half-truth.
Obeying the Lord's commands shows that we love him, but it could end up as a law unto itself.
Do what you must, but never forget that love flows from the inside out.
You can do a lot of things out of obligation, but never really because of love, whether as a choice accompanied by emotions or not.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but I am finally moving on!
With an occasional bump or two, but it's not like I expect life to be smooth.

I think God takes you very seriously when you ask Him to do things like test you, refine you, stretch you and increase your faith in Him and your love for Him.
Sometimes wish He hadn't quite taken me so seriously, but of course, that's just me saying.
I meant every single one of those requests with every bit of sanity that I had when i first presented them to him.

I like her strength.
I like how she's gorgeous even though she doesn't have blue eyes and blond hair.
I like her radiant, sun-kissed copper skin.
I like how she had the courage to follow her dreams, to see what's just around the river bend.
